I Hate Tori Amos...and Here is Why

Tori Amos was on the Tonight Show this evening and I felt floods of anger come rushing back. Now my extreme hatred for Tori Amos is not because I hate celebrities in general, I even like some celebrities, no I hate Tori Amos for a very specific reason... she is a high maintenance needy bitch, and I know this from first hand experience.

I have met her, as a matter of fact I ran an event for her at one of my previous assignments, I have met tons of celebrities because of these events we did. Everybody was great but Tori Amos. She needed special colored sharpies to sign with, she needed special bottles of water because she can only take one sip from each bottle, she can't put on her own chap stick, ah yes and she is fake, I promise you that she is a big fake who pretends to love her fans. In the elevator out of the store she was so exhausted and never wanted to have to deal with fans again, but as we exited a fan found her and she was nothing but a big fake full of smiles as her people ushered this fan away.

Anyway, I never say bad things about the people I work with, and honestly all of the celebrities and authors I have worked with from Tommy Lee, to Jane Fonda, to Augusten Burroughs and David Sedaris and Jerry Lewis, even Wofgang Puck have all been amazing to work with, and every event was so much fun. I was miserable with the Amos event, and I can't even see or hear her music without the anger rising inside of me. It really was that bad. I haven't even mentioned half of the misery that is Tori Amos!

Tori Amos is the nicest, most kind, and grateful famous person I have ever met. She truely respects her audience. I don't believe a word this person wrote above. Love you Tori.

I hate Toria Amos too. I can't stand her singing, it makes my ears bleed. She sounds like a screaming banshee that can't pronounciate. Why does she bother writing lyrics, all she does is make wierd noises into the mic anyways. Who can understand her. Ugh! She is fake! Saw her on the street in London and she basically ran way from this couple when they try to approach her for an autograph. There's a lot of bad music out there I can bare but I can't deal with Tori Amos, she sounds like someone scratching their nails on a black board.

It sounds like you're just whining because you had to do your job? Weren't you paid to do all that? Cry me a river.

Getting colored sharpies and water bottles - SOUNDS REAL HARD.

Sounds like she's a wee bit screwed up. More than her obvious screwed-upness I mean.

im sure every artist gets sick of fans, doesnt mean she's fake, she is just human and she probably was really tired. She is extremely talented and i love her. whoever wrote this blog entry is a fucking dildo.

Having been a fan of Tori's music for over 20 years and having met her personally on several occasions, all I can say is the blog writer is entitled to his opinion. However, I would like to add that if Tori asked me to get sharpies and water, I would do it and not complain one bit. I should also add that those times that I've met her, she is so sweet and kind. She made me, a 41 year old man, feel like I was the only one in the room. She was so sweet. I find it very hard to believe that was an act. She genuinely cares about her fan base and as human beings can have off days or places they do not want to be... I wouldn't blame her one bit for avoiding people on the street. So to those of you who called Tori such derogatory names... YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED!

Agree with the comment above.

Whoever said she "made up a story about being raped" - you should be ashamed of yourself. She cofounded RAINN which has helped victims since it started. Do you know she *made it up*? Did she tell you that herself? No. So shut the fuck up and think yourself lucky it hasn't happened to you, and if it has, shame on you more still for being so ignorant and disrespectful.

I loved Tori 15 years ago when I was in high school. My teenage angst found an outlet in her girl power music. But lately, she just...disappoints. She seems absolutely insincere. All that over the top plastic surgery (TMJ surgery my ass!) just screams insecurity. So I don't know, lately she makes me feel let down because it's becoming obvious that it was a gimmick that I fell for, not someone who really believed what she was saying. Fallen idol.

Wow she was nice and welcoming to a fan when you know, for a fact, that she was exhausted and didn't want to deal with anyone. She wasn't a diva, she wasn't rude. Tori Amos sounds pretty cool.

Tori Amos exploits rape survivors and is a self-absorbed, mentally ill bitch. You dumb women that defend her need to wise the fuck up and quit acting like brain dead sycophants.

The bitch doesn't care about you (but keep hoping and wish for a crumb from her..she is a narcissist and an abuser and they love it when people can't see the truth).
Glad she is getting old...people don't tolerate this sort of bitchiness from old women. She is irrelevant and she insults rape survivors regularly on Pandoras Aquarium.

Truth about Tori: Abusers love to pose as saviors, girls.

Every time I have had things signed by Tori Amos she has used her own one single marker pen (in fact it kind of background clashed with one item I had signed)

The only time she has signed anything in anything other than black was when I had my own pink sharpie pen for a book I was having signed by her, and as she already had a pen she asked me if I prefered having it signed by my own pen and did so...so much for whining?

She even listened to me tell her that my own wife had been subject to abuse and couldn't be there that day and then she paused before writing and left her a personal message in the book.

She loves meeting fans, she obviously has to limit the time spent with them if she has soundchecks/radio interviews or other commitments or if weather is bad etc. But not many artists take the time like she does, and her tour security Mindi does a fucking fantastic job communicating with the fans.

I just found this post. I can say I worked closely with Amos as an assistant for years and I never heard or witnessed any behavior that this person is taking about. Sounds like a lazy person annoyed with doing their job. Tori Amos is very kind hearted and again, never saw her act like this person says in the 7 years I worked for her/spivac entertainment...

all the reasons here for hating her seem a bit petty. she's a musical artist, not a politician and that should entitle her to a little emotional complexity. it's not her JOB to pander to every fan request or to be your down to earth ray of sunshine.

I used to like her music but I haven't listened to her in years. I'm sorry you had such a disappointing experience working with her. It's obviously how you felt at the time and people commenting here giving you shit about it are whiny snowflakes and idiots. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Everyone's opinion is unique, just as the experiences that contributed to forming them.
However, even the blogger's own account & explanation of the events strike me as someone who already some unexplained issues with her or dislike of her which seemed to taint their entire experience.
The entire post really seems out of step with the experiences of so many as well as being based on exaggerations & strange interpretations coming from someone who completely undermines the persona they put forth for themselves.
To be sure, Tori is highly eccentric-typical of extremely intelligent & talented creative individuals. She is also far more perceptive than many people can even fathom. And she admittedly has a dark, devious streak. It's not unlikely that she sensed the blogger's disdain, impatience & prejudice and decided to mess with them!
